The Tensile Test is the most classic test for material characterisation.
It is used to determine various mechanical properties of the material under examination, including ultimate tensile strength (Rm), Young's modulus or elastic modulus (E), yield strength (YS), percentage elongation (A%, "elongation") and percentage reduction of area (Z%, "reduction of area").
Field of Application: Metallic and polymeric materials.
Quality, Sustainability, Innovation
Shimadzu offers products and services of the highest quality.
All instruments are simple and easy to use, and comply with all international standards.
The Charpy pendulum is an instrument used to determine the impact toughness of materials. It consists of a heavy hammer that falls under gravity from a raised position, strikes a standardised test specimen along its pendular path, breaks it and continues its swing beyond the specimen, rising to a certain height.
Fields of Application:
Ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics.
